A Friendship for Today

Summary:   Rosemary Patterson's school closed. She now moved to an all white school with her friend J.J. He is diagnosed with polio and has to move away for treatment. Rosemary is the only colored girl in her whole school!! When she is at school she finds who she will be sitting next to. It is Grace hamilton, her enemy. But during the book Rosemary and Grace come closer together and share more secrets with each other. Meanwhile Rosemary's parents' relationship is on the rocks. Rosemary finds a cat that is crippled. She takes it in and names it Rags. At the end of the school year, Grace tells Rosemary the Hamiltons are moving away. Rosemary is extremely sorrowful. Then J.J. comes back!! There is hope for him to run again.
