Summary: Vinnie Matthews is nine years old and has just lost her father. Now her younger brother, Mason, and her mother, and her are going to live with their grandmother, in Brownsville, Viriginia. That means Vinnie has to leave her best friend Shawna Watts, move to Gertrude B. Spitzer Elementary School, and leave her Daddy in the grave yard. She loves her teacher Mr. Clayton. Her only friend at the school is Lupe Mahoney. Vinnie discovers that she shouldn't take her anger out on Grandma, Mason, Lupe, Momma, or Mr. Clayton. She realizes that the reason she was mad was beacuse of her father's death.
