Summary: Christina and her family live near Lake Conemaugh dam which holds back a ton of water. A bunch of rain comes and overflows the dam. Christina's mother is in the flood and finds shelter on a tree. While she is up on the tree a infant passes her and she rescues it. When Christina's mom returns home she has the baby with her. It is hard to be kind to the baby because Christina's little sister Eva just died. Then the Berwinds adopt the baby and name her Hope. Everything is getting back to normal in their house.

Summary: This story is about the Johnstown flood. It takes place in the 1800s and it is spring. There has been a lot of rain and floods. Luckily Christina and her family are high enough that the floods don't reach them. But mama is down where the floods can reach her. She is helping relatives prepare for a wedding. But when the dam bursts thousands of people drown. Will mama survive. What will happen to Christina? #14
