Setting:  the wilderness of Maine at the time of the American frontier settlers

Summary: Matt, a twelve year old boy, and his father travel to Maine and build a log cabin for his family.  Then his father has to leave to get the rest of the family and bring them to their new home.  Matt is left alone to guard the house and wait.  He is attacked by a swarm of bees and is saved by an Indian boy, named Attean, and his grandfather.  Matt teaches Attean the English language and Attean teaches Matt hunting skills and secrets of the forest.  They slowly become friends.  When Matt's family does not return for a long time, he must decide whether to go with the Indians on the hunt or to stay and wait for his family.

Summary: By #26             

        13 Year old Matt and his father travel to Maine to build a log cabin for the family. Matt's father has to return to Quincy, Massachuttes to get the rest of the family so Matt has to surive in the wilderness for seven weeks alone. Matt is left with his fathers rifle which got stolen by a white man who took atvantage of him, sleeping in his cabin and eatting his only food, and his fathers old watch. Luckily, Matt meets an Indian boy, Attean and his grandfather who saved him from a swarn of bees. Attean teaches Matt how to hunt for food, and surive in the forest and Matt teaches Attean the English language and how to read. It's been a few months and Matt's family still have not returned and the  boys start to  become close friends. Now Matt has to choose to go North with the Indians or wait patiently for his family to return.
